World Voice Day Part 2

As part of our World Voice Day celebration, we’re highlighting some films (and one series) that feature truly unforgettable voices — both iconic and infamous.

Let's start with some of the famously bad voices:
FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS

Based on a real story, Meryl Streep plays the socialite who sang hilariously off-key, but who was also incredibly driven. Here, Florence sings an opera to a a crowd:

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN

A classic comedy where silent film star Lina Lamont has a voice so grating it threatens her career in cinema when movies transitioned to having sound. In this clip, she visits a diction coach:

PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED
Nicolas Cage’s character has dreams of becoming a famous star, but he has a bizarre nasally voice.

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION
Morgan Freeman’s voice is easily one of the most recognizable in Hollywood. Here he plays the Character "Red" in The Shawshank Redemption: 


THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Julie Andrews is known for her very clear dictation and soprano singing voice. Here is clip from the film where she teaches the children the song “Do-Re-Me”:


STAR TREK
Patrick Stewart is a shakespearean trained actor who is known to speak with elegance. He played Captain Jean Luc Picard on the long-running series Star Trek. Here is a compilation of his speeches from the show:
